A sizable portion of Americans won't get to experience driving an electric car for the first time in a 

Tesla, Rivian, or even a Ford Mustang Mach-E. It will be with the Ford F-150 Lightning electric 

pickup truck, which is the country's best-selling battery-operated vehicle.

And much like its liquid-fueled sister, the Lightning has generated an equal amount of demand. 

The F-150 Lightning was unveiled on May 19, 2021, and in the two days that followed, more than 

44,500 parties paid a $100 refundable deposit to reserve an electric F-150. We belonged to them.

Ford had approximately 200,000 bookings by December; as a result, it had to carry over 2022 reservations into 2023.
